Harmonic is used by two kinds of accounts: a teacher, who manages their own roster of students, and a student account, which represents whoever manages a pupil's side of the relationship — usually a parent or guardian, or the student themselves if they're old enough to manage their own account. There is no separate "guardian" account type; a parent/guardian and an independent student both sign in the same way.
From Sign in with Apple, if you sign in that way: your name and email address (or a private relay address, if you chose to hide your email) the first time you sign in only — we don't receive either again on later sign-ins. We also receive Apple's unique, anonymous identifier for your Apple ID, which becomes your account's internal ID.
From Sign in with Google, if you sign in that way: your name, your email address, and Google's unique identifier for your Google Account, which becomes your account's internal ID. Unlike Apple, Google provides your name and email on every sign-in rather than only the first, and does not offer an address-hiding option — so if you would rather we did not hold your real email address, use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide it.
Accounts created with Apple and with Google are separate. Signing in with a different provider than you used before creates a new, empty account rather than opening your existing one; it does not merge them, and your original account is left untouched. If that happens to you, contact us and we can put it right.
A push notification token for your device, so we can deliver the notifications described below. You can turn off notifications for the app entirely in your device's Settings at any time.
Content you or your teacher enter: if you're a teacher, the names and subjects of the students on your roster, their lesson schedule and attendance records, and payment records (how many lessons a payment covered and when it was made — never an amount, a card number, or any other financial detail; Harmonic doesn't process payments). If you're a student, which teacher(s) you're linked to, and your own display name.
In-app messages: a record of the notifications sent to you (e.g. "a lesson was rescheduled," "your balance changed"), so you have a history of what happened and when.
If you contact us: the email address you provide, and whatever you write to us, so we can reply.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or browsing activity, and we do not use any advertising or analytics tracking software — Harmonic has no third-party SDKs of any kind beyond the cloud services listed below.
Solely to operate the app: showing you and the people you're connected to (your linked teacher or students) the schedule, attendance, payment, and messaging features described above. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts all of Harmonic's data and backend logic, purely as our infrastructure provider — it doesn't use your data for its own purposes. Apple handles Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications to your device, as it does for any app using those services. Google handles Sign in with Google, if you choose it, and receives only what any sign-in requires: that you signed in to Harmonic. We don't share your information with anyone else.
All of Harmonic's data is hosted entirely within AWS's Australian region. Nothing is stored or processed in any other country — your information does not leave Australia.
Harmonic can be used two ways: a parent or guardian may manage a pupil's account on their behalf, or a student old enough to manage their own account may sign in and use it directly. Either way, we collect only what's needed for the scheduling, attendance, payment, and messaging features described above — nothing more, regardless of who holds the account or how old they are. If you're a parent or guardian and have any concern about your child's information, use the Contact Us button in Settings and we'll address it.
Your information stays until you delete it. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, without needing to contact anyone.
Teachers: your entire roster — every student, lesson, and payment record you own — is permanently deleted, along with your messages. Linked student accounts lose access to that data.
Students: your own profile and messages are deleted, and you are unlinked from every teacher. Your teachers' rosters, and any other account linked to the same student (e.g. a second parent), are not affected.
Deleting your account also revokes Harmonic's access to your Apple ID via Apple's own Sign in with Apple system.
Your data is stored and transmitted using AWS's standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access to your account data is scoped so that only you (and, for a linked teacher/student relationship, the other party in that relationship) can read it.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
Questions about this policy or your data: use the Contact Us button in Settings to send us a message directly — you'll be asked for your email address so we can reply to you.
